Welcome to The Dewberry Cafe, where the smell of fresh-baked pies and the warmth of southern hospitality greet you at the door. Nestled in the heart of Columbus, Texas, The Dewberry isn’t just a cafe—it’s a tribute to tradition, community, and comfort food made with love.
Meet the Owner
Hi everybody! My name is Matti and I’m the proud owner of The Dewberry Cafe! I was born and raised right here in Columbus, and I’m thrilled to bring my passion for food and community back home. As a kid, I worked at Beckey’s Cafe, which once occupied the very same building The Dewberry now calls home. That experience sparked my dream of owning a restaurant one day.
After earning my degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management in Colorado, I returned to the town I love to open The Dewberry Cafe in 2023. This space was thoughtfully designed to feel like home—a place where everyone is welcome, and the air smells like grandma’s cooking.

We specialize in hearty, all-day breakfast and comforting lunch options served with a smile. Whether you're craving fluffy pancakes, a hearty breakfast sandwich, or one of our savory lunch specials, there's something here to satisfy every appetite. And yes—we rotate our daily lunch specials, so there’s always something new and delicious to try.
One of the heartbeats of our kitchen is homemade pies, baked fresh every single day by me, Matti! From classic apple to seasonal favorites, each pie is crafted with care and the finest ingredients. You can enjoy a slice in the cafe, or if you’d like a whole pie for a special occasion—or just because—feel free to reach out with your order. We’re always happy to bake something just for you.
Our Space
With cozy seating, vintage charm, and a laid-back atmosphere, The Dewberry is the perfect spot to catch up with friends, grab a bite on your lunch break, or enjoy a quiet morning with a hot cup of coffee. We’re open daily from 7 AM to 2 PM, serving breakfast and lunch all day.
We also offer custom catering for special events and gatherings, bringing our homemade goodness to your table wherever you are.

When it's right, it's right, and there's nothing like a small town diner. If you are passing through Columbus or lucky enough to call it home, The Dewberry Café is a must-stop.
The biscuits and sausage gravy are the kind you will think about on the drive out of town. The biscuits are fluffy and buttery, and the gravy is perfectly seasoned. The hashbrowns are just as tasty: golden, crispy on the outside, and tender inside, cooked just right without being greasy.
Beyond the food, the service is as warm and kind as you would hope for in a diner. The staff makes you feel welcome the second you walk in, and the atmosphere balances charm and comfort.
A true gem in Columbus that captures the best of small-town dining with excellent food and heartfelt hospitality.

We walked in and were promptly greeted. They asked us to sit anywhere. Service was beyond compare. We were a party of 6 and the waitress was not overwhelmed at all. Food was DELICIOUS!! If I've ever in Columbus again, I'm surely coming back to eat here!!
